Whether you’re here for a straightforward tooth extraction or something more extensive, we have the expertise to diagnose and treat patients with the utmost precision and care. Collectively, our doctors specialize in areas including (but not limited to) dental implants, anesthesia, oral pathology, bone grafting, and dentoalveolar surgery. Meet Timothy J. Armanini, D.D.S.

Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr. Armanini is an Erie native that has practiced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery here since 1987. He was truly grateful to return to his hometown following the completion of his training. Upon graduating from Cathedral Preparatory School in 1976, he then attended Gannon University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology in 1979.

At graduation, he also received the Alumni Award, presented to an outstanding graduate and reflective of excellence in the natural sciences. He also received the Richard “Doc” Beyer Memorial Award, which reflects outstanding scholarship and intercollegiate athletic participation. Dr. Armanini was an Academic All-American in baseball at Gannon University. He then received his dental school training at the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia. He was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. He completed his post-doctoral residencies at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Hampton, Virginia (General Practice) and at the University of Kentucky, in Lexington (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1987).

Dr. Armanini is board-certified in his specialty and enjoys a sub-specialty interest in dental implant surgery. Most importantly, through his interest in anesthesia, he enjoys helping anxious patients to have a comfortable surgical experience. Dr. Armanini has privileges at UPMC Hamot Medical Center and Village SurgiCenter of Erie.

Dr. Armanini resides in Erie with his wife, Beth, and their children, Joseph and Lindsay.

Meet Michael T. Kolodychak, M.P.H., D.M.D.

Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr. Kolodychak has been excited to be in the practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Erie, PA, since returning to the area in 2000. His extensive education began in Charleroi, PA, a small steel mill town in the Mid-Mon-Valley, 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Gannon University. At graduation, he received an outstanding senior award for academic achievement and dedication to the University through numerous extracurricular, scholastic, and community organizations.

In an effort to gain a broader knowledge of health care systems in the United States, he then attended the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, where he earned a Master of Public Health degree with special emphasis in Public and Community Health Services. Dr. Kolodychak completed his education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Prior to graduation, he was recognized by the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons as the dental student who demonstrated outstanding achievement and performance in undergraduate oral and maxillofacial surgical training. He also was recognized by the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration and Organization of Teachers of Dental Practice Administration for Excellence in Dental Practice Administration. He earned his Certification in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery through completion of his residency at St. Francis Medical Center, also in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dr. Kolodychak has privileges at UPMC Hamot Medical Center and Village SurgiCenter of Erie. He resides in Fairview with his wife, Rebecca, and their three children, Kayla, Alexander, and Andrew.

Meet J.D. Basile, D.M.D.

Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr. Basile joined our practice in 2009 and is pleased to call Erie, PA, his home. He is a native of New Brighton, PA, a small town 25 miles outside of Pittsburgh. In 1996, he graduated from New Brighton High School and continued his education at Bethany College in West Virginia. In 2000, Dr. Basile graduated from Bethany College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry. While at Bethany College, he was honored as an Academic All-American for his accomplishments in the classroom as well as on the football field. Upon graduating from Bethany College, he worked full-time for a year in an oral & maxillofacial surgery practice, which ultimately led him to attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.

After graduation from Penn in 2005, he was accepted into the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, TN. From 2008 to 2009, he served as Chief Resident in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and co-authored a research paper entitled “The Role of Surgical Resection in the Management of Bisphosphonate-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws.” This was then published in the Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in May 2009.

Dr. Basile finished his residency program in 2009 and immediately began his private practice career at Armanini & Kolodychak, L.L.P. He is board-certified in his specialty and focuses his practice on dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, and oral pathology. He also enjoys a special interest in anesthesia, which allows him to provide multiple anesthetic options to even the most anxious patients. Dr. Basile has privileges at UPMC Hamot Medical Center and Village SurgiCenter of Erie.

Dr. Basile currently resides in Fairview with his wife, Alyson, and two sons, Ben and Leo.
